Grid Manager
⚡️ What We Do
Flower is Flexible Power. We are a next-gen energy company leveraging AI and machine learning to make renewable energy stable and always available – even when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing.
Through smart optimization and trading of energy assets like wind and solar farms, battery systems, and EV chargers, we make renewable energy reliable and predictable, leading the charge towards the energy system of tomorrow.
🌟 Who We Are
Tech company at heart – purpose in our DNA. Flower consists of a diverse group of innovative individuals with a strong desire to improve the state of the world.
At Flower, we believe trust, collaboration and diversity are essential to not only create an inclusive work environment, but also drive career growth. By embracing varying perspectives, we allow creativity and progress to flourish.
To accelerate towards our goal of becoming the pioneering force powering the energy system of tomorrow, we are now looking for a passionate and skilled Grid Manager to join our Asset Development domain.
About the role
As our Grid Manager, you will help Flower build a project portfolio that is adapted to the markets of tomorrow by enabling the best possible grid conditions of our projects. You will help Flower maintain its competitive edge by combining deep technical analysis of grid conditions with proactive TSO/DSO engagement. This is a role with real ownership - you'll ensure that acquired and developed projects are feasible and optimised for long-term value, as well as identify and mitigate connection risks early so projects stay investable and execution-ready. You will play a key part in shaping how Flower develops its grid capabilities as the business grows - making this a role where your expertise and input genuinely matter beyond the day-to-day.
What you'll do
Lead technical grid due diligence for acquired and in-house BESS projects; dig into connection offers and agreements and identify the red flags others miss
Act as Flower's technical interface with TSOs and DSOs: define the right questions for each project phase, identify uncertainties, and ensure that possible restrictions are identified and understood.
Evaluate and mitigate connection restrictions and translate them into clear project impact and risk assessments.
Support local and external developers in their dialogues with grid operators, keeping conversations focused on what actually matters at each stage to cut timelines and optimize the connections.
Own structural and legal grid risk screening and coordinate closely with our Legal team.
Manage risks arising from connection structure changes: e.g switching of connection point or voltage levels, tariff impacts, availability requirements and grid code updates.
Represent Flower in grid policy discussions and working groups - including forums that shape the future of flexible grid agreements in Germany and Europe - to actively influence the conditions in the markets we operate in.
Serve as the go-to grid expert internally across EPC, Asset Ops, Trading, Strategy, and Commercial, and work closely with Market Intelligence and Finance to make sure grid risk is properly understood and priced across the business.
Who you are
You have 5-10 years of hands-on experience with grid-related topics, either at a grid operator or on the developer side. You understand what it takes to get a large BESS project connected in Germany - the technical complexity, the regulatory landscape, and the relationship dynamics with TSOs and DSOs. You're equally comfortable in a detailed connection agreement as in a room with senior stakeholders.
Specifically, you bring:
Solid experience with grid connection processes in the German power system - the regulatory framework, the key players, and the realities of getting things done with German TSOs and DSOs.
Fluency in both German and English: this is essential. You'll be working directly with German grid operators, reviewing German-language technical documentation, and representing Flower in German-language forums.
Strong interpersonal and network-building skills. The relationships you build with TSOs, DSOs, developers, and policymakers are as important as your technical knowledge.
The instinct to identify future developments in the energy system and understand what they mean for Flower's business case.
A problem-solving mindset and the confidence to make judgement calls in ambiguous situations without waiting for perfect information.
An engineering or similar technical degree is a plus, but what matters most is that you know the space deeply and can work autonomously at a senior level.
