This is usAt Volvo Buses in Uddevalla, we mix a heritage of welding from the shipbuilding industry with precision and accuracy from decades of local car manufacturing! Together with our committed employees, we manufacture frames and structures of the highest quality for world-class buses.
The plant consists of approximately 130 highly engaged coworkers. The plant is the first step in the supply chain for the bus chassis production. We weld bus frames, cross members and other welded parts, mainly for Volvo Buses but also for other parts of the Volvo Group. We manufacture approximately 2000-3000 bus frames annually.
What you will doAt Volvo Buses Uddevalla you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will take a key role in developing and improving robotic welding solutions in our production environment, with a clear focus on programming and optimizing ABB robots. You will work hands-on with commissioning, troubleshooting, cycle time improvements, and quality assurance, collaborating closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering to secure stable, safe, and efficient automation in daily operations and future industrialization projects.
Your future teamYou will join a product preparation team consisting of preparation engineers, product technicians, and welding- and referens system specialists working close to the shop floor, combining deep technical expertise with a collaborative mindset to deliver reliable manufacturing processes and continuous improvements.

In this role, you will bring solid experience programming ABB robots for welding applications and a strong understanding of industrial automation in a manufacturing setting. You work structured and safety-minded, enjoy solving problems where hardware and software meet, and communicate well with both operators and engineers. You are comfortable taking ownership from analysis to implemented solution and have the curiosity to keep learning as technology and processes evolve.
Essential requirements: ABB robot programming for welding applications, experience commissioning and troubleshooting robot welding cells in production, ability to optimize cycle time and ensure stable output, experience with offline programming and simulation for ABB robot systems, and a solid understanding of welding process quality and uptime drivers.
Nice to have: knowledge of PLC and fieldbus integration, familiarity with preventive maintenance concepts for robot cells, experience from high-volume manufacturing, and experience creating or maintaining technical documentation and standards.
