At Northern Offshore Services (N-O-S), we are expanding our fleet through an extensive newbuilding program across both the Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) and Service Operation Vessel (SOV) segments. To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Vessel Superintendent to join our Technical team.

YOUR PROFILE

You have a practical marine and/or technical background combined with a genuine interest in shipping and vessel operations.

While experience is important, we place great value on personal qualities for this role. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping others and delivers a high level of service. You thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where no two days are the same.

As a Vessel Superintendent, you will work closely with our vessel crew and other departments. You are proactive, adaptable, and confident in making decisions and solving problems. You stay organised and positive during busy periods and can effectively prioritise your workload.

Most importantly, you are a team player who is enthusiastic, flexible, and excited to contribute to a great team atmosphere.

It’s considered an advantage if you have:

  • Experience as a Marine Engineer or Master Mariner, preferably on smaller tonnage
  • Experience from technical, mechanical or marine environments.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and follow up maintenance, repairs and technical projects in a structured and efficient way.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to different situations.
  • Good knowledge of budget planning and procurement.
  • Ability to work in accordance with company management systems in the daily operations.
  • Good understanding of efficient technical operation, development, and upgrade of vessels.
  • Fluent in English and at least one Scandinavian language; spoken and written.
  • Driver’s license.

YOUR TASKS

As a Vessel Superintendent, you are responsible for the technical and operational support of assigned vessels within the fleet. You will work closely with the crew in their daily operation, follow up on and monitor short-and long-term maintenance. In this position, you will have the mandate to make purchases of technical supplies and spare parts, work according to our 5-year plan and be responsible for the vessels’ proactive and cost-effective planning. The Vessel Superintendents’ responsibility is also to work within the limits for our annual budget.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily technical follow-ups.
  • Ensure that assigned vessels are in good condition and that the crew are adequately supported to maintain the vessel in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Travelling to assigned vessels and other company offices regularly.
  • Planning and supervising of vessels, shipyards and repairs.
  • Carry out regular technical inspections on board assigned vessels.
  • Responsible for resolving and finalising technical issues for your assigned vessels.
  • Close follow-up on the vessel’s maintenance, ensuring optimal operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate technical support and service personnel when required.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the assigned vessels’ Planned Maintenance System.
  • Close cooperation with Crewing, HSSE-Q and Chartering departments.
  • Implementing safety and environmental standards so the vessels can operate safely.
  • Provide technical support outside normal office hours and be prepared to travel on short notice when necessary.
